New York Cowboys featured in N.Y. Post

In this past Sunday’s New York Post, current Cowboy basketball players Tyson Johnson and Afam Muojeke were featured in an article written by columnist Kevin Kernan. Both Johnson and Muojeke hail from New York City.

Johnson, a senior who is from Long Island, N.Y., is currently one of only two players in the Mountain West Conference averaging a double-double. His 10.0 rebounds a game are a tie for the highest in the league, while his 15.8 points per game rank ninth. Against Texas State last Wednesday, Johnson not only scored a career high 22 points and recorded a career high 15 rebounds, he also notched his first career double-double.

Muojeke, a redshirt freshman from Jamaica, Queens, N.Y., is currently leading the MWC in scoring with an average of 19.4 points per game. He has scored in double figures in four of Wyoming’s first five games, including a 31-point performance against Cal State Bakersfield and a 23-point night against Prairie View A&M. In UW’s most recent game, a win over Denver, he handed out a career high five assists.

Future Cowboy Thomas Manzano, who signed with Wyoming during the early signing period, was also featured in Kernan’s article. Manzano is a Brooklyn, N.Y. native who is currently attending Garden City Community College in Kansas. He will join the Cowboys for the 2009-10 season.
